This is a great question that is hard to answer. Many facets determine the answer including: How bad do you want to be good? Do you have natural ability? (and the biggie…) How much do you intend to practice regularly? How much will I have to practice?
This is a good question for your prospective teacher. Typically younger beginners will start out at 20 minutes a day. A practice regime of 30 minutes each day will yield good results; 45 minutes a day, even better! More important than the amount of time you practice, is the consistency of practice. Practicing everyday for 10 minutes is considerably better than practicing once in a week for 70 minutes. Unlike history tests, you can’t “cram” for music lessons.When/where are recitals?
